It all began when Dr. Qilin Fu, who was a doctoral student at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, realized the effects of vibration on machining & that the technology needed improvement. Qilin proceeded to investigate different systems and materials he could apply to the problem. He reached a breakthrough in 2015 with the use of polymers.
MAQ’s self-tuning mass damper technology is included in all their anti-vibration tool holders and reduces vibration in a wide range of frequencies. This allows the user to use the same vibration damped tool holder for more than one application. You never have to think about tuning again.
